Soldiers from the Georgia State Defense Force and 2nd Battalion continue to be an integral component of several emergency services and search and rescue operations; including our rapid deployment to Lamar County following the tornado disaster, search and rescue for missing persons in the local community, and requested assistance in the search and location of a missing plane in the rugid North Georgia Mountains. The Georgia State Defense Force also assists in OPFOR pre-deployment training to make sure our own receive the most realistic training scenarios before deployment. The more recent high profile cases we have deployed to include support for the Meredith Emerson and Jason Rourk searches, Hurricane Katrina, and Haiti relief efforts.
